JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective: The Arvin Ranch Manager directs and coordinates, through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities of workers engaged in agricultural crop production for corporations. Is responsible for directing and coordinating workers actives, such as planting, irrigation, chemical application, harvesting, grading, labor job costing and recording keeping.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates growing activities with those of engineering, equipment maintenance, packing houses, and other related departments.
  • Analyzes market conditions to determine acreage allocations.
  • Records information, such as production, farm management practices, and parent stock, and prepares financial and operational reports.
  • Inspects orchards and fields to determine maturity dates of crops or to estimate potential crop damage from weather.
  • Purchases machinery, equipment, and supplies, such as tractors, seed, fertilizer, and chemicals.
  • Hires, discharges, transfers, and promotes workers, enforces safety regulations, and interprets policies.
  • Evaluates financial statements and makes budget proposals.
  • Responsible for managing farm employees approving timecards and ensuring labor cost is correctly allocated.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Ranch Manager, 5+ years managing Mandarins/Citrus
  • Clean driving record and a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license may be required
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
