Summary/Objective: The Quality Supervisor is responsible for coordinating daily activities of the quality technicians and inspectors at receiving and packing to ensure timely and effective implementation of all company’s policies, procedures, and activities involved in assuring the quality of packed product
The quality supervisor is expected to maintain close working relationships with other department managers and supervisory personnel in order to meet and maintain product quality, identify, solve and prevent problems affecting product quality, maximize productivity, and comply with regulatory requirements and meet customer’s expectations. Quality supervisor reports to the Quality Assurance Manager
Supervise and direct quality assurance technicians/inspectors who are responsible for ensuring fruit packed/sorted or received are meeting our internal or external quality standards and specifications.
Assist in ensuring good performance by quality assurance technicians/inspectors by mentoring, training, setting expectations, providing accountability, and performing evaluations.
Assist in employee training on quality protocols and specifications, food safety, company processes, Good Manufacturing Practices and QC power app.
Assist in managing the degreening team activities on a daily basis.
Perform physical duties, including but not limited to pushing, pulling, lifting, twisting, and walking.
Maintain an organized inventory of retained products.
Maintain laboratory and department tools, utensils and supplies.
Maintain a clear understanding of customer requirements.
Assist in overseeing the “quality hold/release” program including investigations, root cause analysis and corrections of quality related issues.
Adhere to all regulatory rules and regulations, ensuring that food safety and product performance standards are met.
Perform other duties as directed by the Quality manager and ownership.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a packing house. Experience with Mandarins and Grapes is preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
Must be willing to work extended hours, weekends, and be flexible during peak season.
Ability to work in a cold environment.
Must be willing to work second/night shift during the season.
Must be able to effectively communicate ideas verbally and in writing.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
Strong skills in organization and prioritization, and attention to details.
Must have computer basic skills (Microsoft office application).
